HydroVolt
The next Generation of Motorsports
My Final Thesis Project consists of my vision of our world in the future. I imagined a world where sea-levels have not stopped rising and many cities have started to fall below sea level. This change in climate will create a need for amphibious vehicles that can seamlessly transition between road and water. To push the development of this new technology, I created a new motorsport called Hydrovolt. The competitive nature of racing will accelerate the production of these amphibious vehicles. Hydrovolt is also a sustainable oriented sport.
Designing the vehicle was a challenge as cars and boats have naturally opposite body shapes. In a car you want aerodynamics to push you down to the ground while on the boat you want it to lift you. This made for an interesting design that had to include the best of both worlds. In terms of power the vehicle has 4 electric motors (research has shown that hydrogen is not the future) and an Electric turbine for maximum eco-power. I modelled the Hydrovolt AR1 (Amphibious Racer 1) in 3D and created a 1/16th scale model out of clay, a practice still used in the automotive industry today.
With Hydrovolt, I designed 2 major aspects. The sport in itself and the vehicle that will be used. To design the sport I based myself off of insights and research that I gathered on all current/upcoming motorsports. I studied the positives and negatives of each sport and brought together the best aspects. This has lead me to create a sport that is sustainable, human oriented and maximises fan involvement using emerging tech like AR, VR, etc… I created the rules and regulations in accordance with future trends of inclusivity and globalization.
